Short answers to the questions we get most often.
billFT's parser handles most receipts on-device. When a receipt is unusually formatted, you can ask an AI to re-parse the raw OCR text. The request goes straight from your phone to the AI provider using your own API key — billFT does not see, proxy, or store the receipt content.
Three providers are supported: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), and Google (Gemini). Gemini is the only one with a no-cost option that's usable in practice — its free tier is generous enough for typical personal use.
AIza…). Keep it private — anyone with that key can spend your quota. The key is stored encrypted on your device using the OS keystore. It is never sent to billFT's servers. You can delete it from Settings at any time.
billFT works fully offline. Cloud sync is optional and exists for two reasons: so you don't lose data when switching devices, and so household members can see the same receipts.
Turn it on under Settings → Cloud sync. New receipts you scan after that point are uploaded; receipts created before you enabled sync stay local unless you explicitly back them up.
To share with family, invite them by email from Settings → Family. Accepted invites give everyone in the family group access to receipts marked as shared (the default).
Each receipt has a privacy toggle. Shared receipts are visible to everyone in your family group. Private receipts are visible only to you — useful for gifts, surprises, or anything you'd rather not show others in the household.
You can flip a receipt between private and shared at any time. If cloud sync is off entirely, the toggle has no effect — nothing leaves your device.
On any receipt's detail screen, set a return-by date or a warranty-until date. billFT will surface those in your timeline so you don't miss the window.
Useful for: electronics returns, appliance warranties, "30 days no questions asked" store policies, anything you might want to bring back.
Open delete.php from any browser, sign in, and confirm. We remove your cloud-stored receipts, family memberships, and account record. Local data on the device is cleared the next time you open the app.
If you only used the app in offline mode (no cloud sync ever enabled), there is nothing on our servers to delete — uninstalling the app is enough.
